"A watershed is defined as a region of land within which water flows down through a network of underground and surface drainage pathways into a specified body of water, such as a river, lake or ocean." -Oregon State University & Sea Grant Extension
From Contest to Calendar
From the ridgetops to the valley bottom, the Wenatchee River watershed provides residents and visitors alike, with a spectacular place to live, work, and play. In celebration of everything the watershed provides, the Cascadia Conservation District sponsored the Wenatchee River watershed photo contest.
Photos were solicited from interested members of the public for five categories including plants, wildlife, agriculture, recreation, and landscapes. Over one-hundred entries were submitted by twenty-six different photographers. All entries were exhibited by category at participating businesses in the watershed including Leavenworth Mountain Sports, The Anjou Bakery, Cellar Cafe, Lemolo Cafe & Deli, and Lemongrass Natural Foods.
Three winning entries and one honorable mention were selected from each category and are included in the 2010 "Picture the Wenatchee" watershed calendar. Calendars are now available at our office.
