Participation & Solutions
In 1998 the Washington State legislature passed ESHB 2514, or the Watershed Planning Act. The act provides a framework for developing local solutions to watershed issues on a watershed by watershed basis. It also enables funding and support for local communities to develop management plans for each Water Resource Inventory Area, or WRIA, in the state. |

 Watershed plans are developed by planning units that consist of government entities, tribes, farmers, business owners, private citizens and other stakeholders. Planning units are required to address water quantity issues in a watershed plan, but may also opt to address water quality, instream flow, and habitat issues as well.
The Cascadia Conservation District is proud to be the Lead Agency for the Entiat, or WRIA 46, watershed planning effort. For more information about the Entiat Watershed Planning Unit, its origins, and ongoing activities click on the watershed title to the right.
Our staff is also actively involved with the Wenatchee, or WRIA 45, watershed planning effort, led by Chelan County. Click on the watershed title to the right for a link to the Chelan County Natural Resource Program website.
Watershed planning efforts in the Chelan and Stemilt-Squilchuck watersheds are currently in the development process. More information and links to lead agency websites will be added as they become available. |
